Reviews I've Written

  • Conditions
    Alain Badiou

Je suis désolé, but i'm not going to try read this sort of thing in french. so waited for translation which just came out.
more excited about the forthcoming Logics of worlds. sequel to the massive Being and event, about which Badiou writes in his own preface: '...I was quite aware of having written a 'great' book of philosophy...I thought I had inscribed my name in the history of philosophy.'
uhmm, ok. True enough, but not the most modest individual though is he

  • Ubu Roi
    Alfred Jarry

ubu roi father of pere ubu, ubuweb. alfred jarry, proto-father of pataphysics. small guy on a bike with a gun, sort of like a 19th c. version of hunter s thompson (well, mainly the bike and gun part)

  • After Finitude: An Essay on the Necessity of Co...
    Quentin Meillassoux

eating it up like candy. no beating around bushes. student of the omniscient badiou, meillassoux says: philosophy is stuck in fideistic belief in absolute. says: there is only contingency, anything can happen. go for a swim. has started continental philosophers all over the web (and beyond) tipping over shoelaces and tongues in reinvigorated debate, in which they are actually disagreeing with each other about content of their argument.
