The Song of Mavin Manyshaped
Sheri S. TepperI like this one - in parts. I'm utterly bored by book 2! Book 1 is definitely the best. Book 3, not bad. I'd love to know more about the shapeshifters - before they disappear. And I'd love to know what happens at the end of Mavin's 1000 yr sleep. I enjoyed the re-read.

Jinian Star-Eye
Sheri S. TepperYup, enjoyed it again. I have to skip some bits as her descriptives can go on too long - at least for me! I love the concept of sentient world and one that sorts out its own problems - Hmmm! Are we living on one right now, with the gentle development of pnademic flus? Wait and see, perhaps. Howver, Tepper's world certainly does get down to sorting out human arrogance and know-it-all stuff. It's very poignant, especially at the end and with the resolution of the problems. I find it fascinating... (show more)

I find it fascinating that one has to learn one's skills - as shamans have always done - and not rely on "gifts".
If you decide to read this book, it's worth starting from the first one, Jinian Footseer, or you won't get all the points nor understand the heroine at all really. think the trilogy is worth it but you may find you want to hurry through some bits. (show less)

The True Game
Sheri S. TepperGood, enjoyable. I like Tepper's basic premise that the world is sentient - worlds are :-). And the tangles that come from people arriving on another world, not having a clue about it and immediately trying to make it "like Home", are interestng and worrying. doing just that, even with other countries, counties, streets even, here on Earth is such a prevalent and bad human tendency!
Reading this one took me into the Jinian series again. Am just reading "Jinian Star Eye"... (show more)

Reading this one took me into the Jinian series again. Am just reading "Jinian Star Eye", the final volume in the series. Tepper can "bore on" a bit and I do find myself skipping when she gets in the "bleeding obvious" aobut people's feelings. I also find even Jinian severely "dense" at times but overall, I enjoy it. And I love the working premise of a sentient world with very sentient and capable beings who are largely unrecognisable to the humans. (show less)
