Reviews I've Written

  • The Year of Living Biblically: One Man's Humble...
    A. J. Jacobs

I am not a religious person. When I told my religious friends about this book, the most common reaction was defensivness. Interestingly, they assumed that Jacobs was atttempting to discount the bible by taking on the impossible task of following it literally. This is not the case at all. I encourage anyone to read this book, his intentions snd the things he learned in the process might suprise you.

  • The Uses of Enchantment: The Meaning and Import...
    Bruno Bettelheim

I found this book to be very thought provoking. I see in most of the negative reviews that people who did not agree with the theories are the ones who did not like the book. Some of the theories are out there, some are just plain funny (the glass slipper was the hymen and when it broke ...). I don't see agreeing with the theories as an acurate gage of the quality of the book. It made me think. That makes a good book as far as I'm concerned.

  • Free to Be You and Me
    Marlo Thomas

70's babies like me should remember this one. I have so many great memories of this book. I loved all of the stories and songs and I think I listened to it every day for a few years. I bought several copies recently to give to my friends children.
