The Dogs of Babel: A Novel
Carolyn ParkhurstA good writer could have made this a terrific book that was by turns heartbreaking and nightmarish, but we're stuck with a so-so writer who ruins a great idea with bad dialogue and irritating characters (with the exception of the dog Lorelei, the most realistic character study in the book.) The author just didn't have the chops to pull this story off.
