A Sandhills Ballad
Ladette RandolphCharacters that speak volumes in few words, I found Mary Rasmusson to be a hard packed plains woman- what a friend of mine in Nebraska calls a "dirt girl"- close to the earth in her loves and wanting richness in the simple pleasures of her day- yet finding mostly stark reality of life in small town Nebraska. The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society
Mary Ann Shafferreally nice.... I like the device of letter writing to get the story told (similar in style to "The Last Days of Summer- the only baseball-themed book I've truly loved) and it is fascinating to get the historical details. You fall in love with the characters...

The Glass Harmonica: A Novel
Louise MarleyI've enjoyed everything I've read by Louise Marley... This is a lovely little book, bringing an alternate history to life in mild fantasy. More geared to young adult readers than Marquisarde, The Child Goddess, or The Terrorists of Irustan, which were more compelling tales for my mind, but a sweet book nontheless.
