A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini, 8 months ago

Quote-leftThis is very sad novel. Sad story of two women in Afghanistan. The novel is also a history of Afghanistan, since the 1970s. Most of the story could be a real life story of a woman in Afghanistan, but it is to sad and depressing.Quote-right

Shantaram by Gregory David Roberts, 9 months ago

Quote-leftIt took me a month to finish this book ! It is huge ! About 3 times, the size of a normal book. The first part of the book, is fascinating to read, as it introduces the reader to India: urban and rural ! Being an Indian, it is funny to read some of the things, described from a foreigner's viewpoint. The description of the beetle leaf shops is hilarious. So are some of the aspects of the village life.

This book has everything romance, politics, gang wars, underworld, dark side of bombay, and philospohy. The book has lots of philosophy on life, money!

I would say, it is bit more philosophical than what I would expect from a fiction novel. But it is not boring. It keeps you engaged, and is an entertaining and fascinating read.

I just finished reading, and realized, there were some ends which were not wrapped in the story, so went to wikipedia, and realized there will be a sequel and prequel to this saga :) So, don't be surprised if you are left with a few unanswered questions at the end of the book !Quote-right

Digital Fortress by Dan Brown, 10 months ago

Quote-leftIt is indeed a thriller ! And it is a fiction: some scenes are just too convenient and somethings in the plot are hard to believe. But nice story, with lots of twists, and turns. A roller coaster till the end.Quote-right

Mirror Dance by Lois McMaster Bujold, 11 months ago

Quote-leftI found it quite ordinary. It was my second sci-fi book, maybe I don't like the genre enough.Quote-right
