Now I know Hitler, Mssolini & the likes share more similarities with the Left than the Right!
Quite an ambitious but long overdue project! Great attempt with good intention. Kudos!
Though some aspects could have been better presented for clarity, but that "minor defect" certainly would not dilute a bit of the great value that this excellent book posssess.
Conservatives are not that bad after all!
A must read to all who have keen interest in American politics! These 2 young conservatives have successfully presented a very refreshing perspective of the rise and fall of the GOP in the recent decades. More importantly, they have prescribed some interesting ideas on how to resurrect "the seemingly dying GOP" that certainly warrant further deliberation and even debate!
Reaching out to the working class and moving to the centre are the ways to go. And you know what? This simple advice surprisingly has universal application to all political parties across the globe who are struggling to remain afloat and become winnable again like the GOP is US.
My parting words to The Lefts, the Rights or the Centrists: You all ignore this book at your own risk
I finished reading this book in 48 hours. Curious to find out the reasons behind these few people (me included ) turning RIGHT (Conservative/Classical liberalism) when literally everyone seems to be embracing LEFT in haste!
Yet this is not entirely correct, on second thought, I realized that I have never been Left before. May be it is sort of self-rediscovery, i supposed. an interesting and enriching journey nevertheless.
What maketh a true leader?
His/her intellect or oratory skills? No.It is his/her decisiveness and courage while confronted with crisis that make him/her stands up as a true leader.
This is basically what extremely inspiring book is all about!
An interesting account of what Soros is in for. Very inspiring and enlightening. So, Soros is not a moron like Malaysian former Prime Ministe, Dr. Mahathir would like us to believe, after all!
I have always regarded myself as too conservative to be a liberal (in classical liberal sense). Though I am all for limited government, individual rights, rule of law and free market, but....
So, I am so happy to find this book on Conservatism. It is time for me , a self-proclaimed conservative to explore Conservatism.
Having read this fantastic book (though i must admit this is not a book that is easy to digest), I am convinced that conservatism is one the most misunderstood concept or movement in modern political world.
Two things I discovered and concluded from reading this book by Roger Scruton: (1) politically, I am more conservative than I was willing to admit; & (2) conservatism is such a pragmatic, effective and reliable political concept or movement that will continue to flourish despite always being
overshadowed by liberalism and socialism.
What a book it is!
A gem, A classic and most importantly its ideas changed the course of history.
What else can I say? Go read read yourself!
A must read to all those think Capitalism is the evil for all problems that Wall Street and the world economy are facing today.
Ayn Rand gives us the reasons and passion to fight back in defense of Capitalism at times of adversity like now.
Never a topic so hot and so divisive to be discussed in Malaysia, like Islamic State. Now the title of this book: Who Needs An Islamic State? So provocative, some may even argue, seditious, a question to be asked. Can't wait to finish reading it.
