The Myth of a Christian Nation: How the Quest f...
Gregory A. BoydWow! Where do I start? I don't usually have books I give 5 stars out of 5, but this book really has changed my Christian world view. Christianity and politics have always seemed to me a difficult marriage, and after reading this book my concerns have only grown on this subject. It has also stirred my resolve to live out my faith in front of those in my church, in my family and in my neighborhood; in front of my friends and my enemies. Wow! The greatest way to spiritually impact the life of another is to share the love of Jesus Christ with them, and to allow the Holy Spirit to work in them to produce change. That message should not be diluted by other messages, for there can always be a venue for that... (show more)
This was a quality read, though it was definitely an academic book. I would recommend this book to anyone desiring to improve their teaching ability in group settings, such as preaching, classrooms, even bible study groups. A key point I gleaned from this text is that in the Christian education realm there is a need to recognize that God has given the teacher a message to get across to the learners. That message should not be diluted by other messages, for there can always be a venue for that later. Allow your learners to leave impacted to produce life change; spiritual life change, and to act upon what they have learned. (show less)
