Reviews I've Written

  • Mad Hungry: Feeding Men and Boys
    Lucinda Scala Quinn

I think i could write this book--and write it better, so I have alot of quibbles with the book, but overall it is a sound approach to feeding boys-to-men, and I think has some good tps on that--lunch and dinner are much superior to the breakfast chapter, and she is a little optimistic about the green vegetables, in my experience, but a good showing all in all. The photography throughout is stunning, and I wish there were more of it-there are a number of recipes that I would have liked to see... (show more)

The photography throughout is stunning, and I wish there were more of it-there are a number of recipes that I would have liked to see what they should look like--she has a lot of Asian noodle dishes that in my experience are big hits, and i would like to make more of. • Our Children Can Soar: A Celebration of Rosa, B...
    Michelle Cook

This is an over-simplified story of African-American opportunities from the CIvil War to the present, but I think the idea of "you can be anything" is a good one for small children to hear, and this one addresses a number of important steps along that way, culminating in Obama's presidency that I think are really worth highlighting. THe illustrations are rich in color and in vibrancy. I really loved this book.

  • The Big Storm: A Very Soggy Counting Book
    Nancy Tafuri

Not a good counting book--too hard to follow for the beginning counter, and the illustrations were uninterstingly rendered.
