A Circle of Quiet
Madeleine L'EngleI loved this book. It was the best, most wonderful example of a stream of conscienciousness I have ever encountered. She is deep and fun and wild and profound and witty and challenging and bravely honest. The book is dense like wonderful bread. Anyone who has read and enjoyed A Wrinkle in Time and other L'Engle books will, I think, love this.

Empress: A Novel
Shan SaAlthough this is a book for ADULT audiences, the literary quality is wonderful. Again and again, the prose reads like poetry. It is historical fiction...likely strong emphasis on FICTION, but quite believeable! Definately a book for women of power.

That Hideous Strength (Space Trilogy, Book 3)
C. S. LewisThis is an amazing book and the end of an amazing trilogy. Many times -- well all too often -- by the third book of the trilogy, the author is bored and therefore the 3rd book is a real let down. NOT SO with the Space Trilogy by Lewis. This book is a different book completely than the other two, and completely wonderful in concept, characters, and creativity! It COMPLETES the trilogy really really well. I STRONGLY recommend the entire trilogy, to be followed by Planet Narnia.
