Reviews I've Written

  • The Broken Window
    Jeffery Deaver

A good Lincoln Rhyme novel from Jeffrey Deaver, picked up pace a little way into it with plenty of twists that keep you guessing (I guessed a different murderer every couple of chapters not once getting it right!). The sub plot of the case in the UK seemed somewhat pointless. The concept of data having such a control and power over your life and the potential to run and potentially ruin your life is fascinating and quite scary.

  • The Art of Racing in the Rain
Garth Stein, Garth(Author) ; Welch, Christopher Evan(Performed by) Stein

This is interesting, a book written from a dogs perspective - and an uber intelligent one at that!! Nicely done, and very well observed and I think I'd like to think if I had a dog it was that smart and that emotionally entwined with my life. Sadly I thought the racing talk and analogies were dull, and I suppose the outcome a little fanciful but it was really nicely written and after getting about a third of the way in it kind of pulled me through

  • Country Pursuits
    Jo Carnegie

Predictable and nothing new here. The first half moved slowly with no real momentum about the story line, second half became more interesting but was predictable and prone to waves of utter ridiculous fantasy! Easy enough to read though.
