Reviews I've Written

  • Ejderhanın Gözleri
    Stephen King

A very quick and incredibly satisfying read from one of my favorite authors. The Eyes Of The Dragon is a small extension of The Dark Tower series featuring every Stephen King lover's favorite evil-doer: Randal Flagg. Much like The Dark Tower, The Eyes Of The Dragon gives us a grand sense of adventure and peril that only Stephen King can bring us. Incredibly engaging. I was able to, surprisingly, read through this in only a matter of two days. I suppose its because it felt so much like The Dark Tower to me that I could not bear to put it down.
As usual with King's stories, the character and story development is incredible.
Its classic Stephen King filled with well-crafted characters that drive an excellent fantasy story line that grips hold of your imagination and does not let go until well after you turn its final page.
An epic tale that all Stephen King fans can tremendously enjoy. (show less)

  • Protect and Defend: A Thriller
    Vince Flynn

I stumbled upon this book accidentally and immediately noticed that it is very well-liked so, naturally, I read it. All in all, I can fairly say it was nothing special.
The first thing I noticed was how well-researched Vince Flynn is. He is able to give us very accurate descriptions of the inner-workings of a counter-terrorist agency. Also, I strongly agreed with his political opinion when it comes the the topic of "harsh interrogation". His character says something along the line... (show more)

The first thing I noticed was how well-researched Vince Flynn is. He is able to give us very accurate descriptions of the inner-workings of a counter-terrorist agency. Also, I strongly agreed with his political opinion when it comes the the topic of "harsh interrogation". His character says something along the lines of: "Our government hasn't yet acknowledged the fact that we are fighting an enemy that does not play by the rules."
Other than that, there is not much more I can say positively about this book.
The characters are very one-dimensional and rarely have any moments of development. They seemed more like hollow shells than actual characters.
The writing is just decent. Its not great but, at the same time, its not bad. Just OK.
The story is mildly entertaining but not very satisfying in the end. Ultimately, just a decent read. (show less)

  • Brimstone
    Robert B. Parker

This series as a whole is a good portrayal of the wild west told through three stories: Appaloosa, Resolution, and this, Brimstone. Now, I am not entirely sure but I think it is safe to assume that this is the last installment in the series. I do not see where there is much room to write a sequel, but knowing Robert B. Parker's style, I am sure it is possible for him to think of something in due time. But for the sake of simplicity and the sake of this review, I will refer to this book as the... (show more)

The story in this book is very straightforward and, much like its predecessors, very simple, but definitely not in a bad way. Its characters are also simple, yet very well developed. They both suffer from great internal conflict built up from the last two books, be it Virgil's feelings for Allie or his struggle to either follow the law or what he believes is right. Overall, its a quick, and very engaging series, and if Parker wants to continue it with another installment, I gladly welcome it. (show less)
