Reviews I've Written

  • Shakespeare: The Invention of the Human
    Harold Bloom

I agree with Tim and say BOOOOO! This is contrite pop-crap which Bloom wrote to get rich and he did. He got something like a million dollar advance to write this, which makes me want to open this book poop in it, smash it shut, and put it back on the library shelf so anyone else thinking to pick it up will know exactly what it is from the smell. Conversly I did like his earlier work like Theory of Reading and what not. I prefer to read them rather than deficate in them. So, kudos for that Bloom.

  • Derrida, Heidegger, Blanchot
    Timothy Clark

You have to admire everyone who attempts to make sense of the post modernists and deconstructors, but ultimately with most you are simply left saying, nice try buddy.

  • Spenser: The Faerie Queene, Second Edition
    A.C. Hamilton

I am probably one of the few who really love the FQ. Rich with allegory and snide commentary, plenty of talk of Elizabeth's spidery old crotch and lots of good old fashion chivalric violence. This edition, the Hamilton, is by far the most helpful for getting through your first time, he does a great job with the notes.
