Revised Common Lectionary Daily Readings: Propo...
UnknownI used this for several months. I decided I wanted to spent more time reading through books, but it's a very nice compliment to the RCL. I still use it for daily readings in a Vespers group I lead on my college campus.

The Politics of Jesus
John Howard YoderPretty darn good. Very Scripture based, not as ideologically-driven as some social gospel preachers. Opened my eyes to a lot of stuff. I don't agree with his conclusions, and I think his reading of, particularly, Paul's Epistles can be very flawed at times. And of course he can be very slanted. But he opened my eyes to a whole new way of thinking about my Savior, and that's never bad. I'm sure when I've had time to think about it all, I'll find he's changed my opinion on quite a few things.

Jesus, the Christ: Contemporary Perspectives
Brennan HillIt's a decent introduction to Jesus scholarship. Much more liberal than I am, and I think he makes some pretty big assumptions about what "scholars" think... but overall I learned a lot.
