    OK, I have to say that I enjoyed Elizabeth Gilbert's writing. She's funny; she's very very funny. And if I weren't completely burned out on personal memoirs, I would call her insightful-- she really points her scrutiny at herself rather than the world around her, and analyzes her own spiritual awaken well.

    But I really am exhausted by everyone's navel-lint. I've just read so many personal memoirs that I don't care about the individual's struggle against an apathetic world anymore. Give... (show more)

    But I really am exhausted by everyone's navel-lint. I've just read so many personal memoirs that I don't care about the individual's struggle against an apathetic world anymore. Give me plotting. Give me secondary characters. Give me a conspiracy that goes all the way to the top. Hell, give me those trashy mysteries that my Mom reads.
