A Thousand Splendid Suns
Khaled HosseiniKhaled Hosseini's ability to portray Afghanistan in this second novel is a spectacular show of his writing talent. This novel lives up to the legacy of The Kite Runner. Hosseini again brings the reader in with a gripping tale of the horror of Afghanistan but the love and hope that remains within the hearts of the people. He takes us through the lives two Afghani women as they suffer yet learn to love amidst the cruelty of the world around them. I would recommend this novel to anyone who i... (show more)

I would recommend this novel to anyone who is interested in a book that can draw you in and is brimming with detail and emotion. This book really awakens the reader to the plight of those in Afghanistan and how they will need our help to attain peace and stability. I hope that Hosseini will bless us with more of his story telling in the future. His books can do wonders for our understanding of the Middle East. (show less)

Parties, Politics, And Public Policy in America
Marc J. HetheringtonI read this book for Comparative Political Party Systems. Overall, it is a good read for anyone interested in the way the political system works in the United States. However, being only a few years old it is still outdated. I believe an updated version would be a much better read for class or personal knowledge.
Despite being outdated it does give a very good explanation of the roles of the two major parties, why there are two major parties, and the rise and fall of party power. It focu... (show more)

Despite being outdated it does give a very good explanation of the roles of the two major parties, why there are two major parties, and the rise and fall of party power. It focuses primarily on elections of the 20th century, and the authors also try to speculate as to what will happen in the political future. Their speculations did not seem all that accurate to me, but nevertheless I feel that the book was well worth reading. (show less)

Inkdeath
Cornelia FunkeThis book is a wonderful end to Cornelia Funke's first trilogy. She always captivates the reader with her beautifully spun tale of magic and dreams. Funke is a wonderful fantasy writer, and I would recommend reading her other stories if you enjoyed this one.
In Inkdeath we were brought to a climatic and perfectly unpredictable ending to Meggie and Mo's adventures in the Inkworld. By the end of the book, I was unable to put it down. This books was wonderfully told so that the reader was a... (show more)

In Inkdeath we were brought to a climatic and perfectly unpredictable ending to Meggie and Mo's adventures in the Inkworld. By the end of the book, I was unable to put it down. This books was wonderfully told so that the reader was always interested and never knew what would come next. I became so attached to the characters at the end of the novel that I was sad to see it end.
Richly detailed, Inkdeath is a story for children and adults alike who want to feel the magic of reading. This book is a great read for all fantasy lovers. I was truly sad to see the series end. (show less)
