  • Good to Great: Why Some Companies Make the Leap...
    Jim Collins

This book not only teaches you about business sense, but also about life. We can also learn from the lessons in this book regarding the value of leadership and having the right people on the bus. This can also be applied in your own personal relationships.
I'm grateful to work for a company and executive who is my dad, who applies these concepts and allows me to learn them as well and apply my own passions in a way that helps his business grow, and allows me to grow as a person at the same ... (show more)

  • The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People
    Stephen R. Covey

After years of "knowing" of the Habits due to having a dad that runs his business and lives his life by the Habits, I finally caved in and read the book. I agree, that you have to be in the right place in your life to truly appreciate the book and implement the lessons into your own life. I agree, that you have to be in the right place in your life to truly appreciate the book and implement the lessons into your own life. I wasn't ready until reaching a certain point in my life when I finally said, Ok, it's time. And I'm glad I did! It is so simple and basic yet profound in it's own way and can really have the ability to change one's life, if you allow it to and are open to following through on the teachings.
Everyone should read this book. It's not just about business - it's about families, it's about relationships, it's about life. (show less)

  • The 8th Habit: From Effectiveness to Greatness
    Stephen R. Covey

Even though I have a dad who lives by the Habits, so it's been a part of our life for years - I avoided reading any of the books until this time in my life, which was very purposeful. I also decided to read the 8th Habit FIRST, and am now going to read the 7. I work that way though - I like to see the big picture before I understand how it all fits together. And I really enjoyed this book and the message in it about finding your voice vocationally and helping others and empowering others to find their's! That's really been my life theme since my near-death experience. And with the parents that I have, I've always looked at work as your calling, rather than your job. Do what you love and the rest will follow :) (show less)
