This was my first exposure to the idea of blue oceans and red oceans. Blue oceans strategy seeks to make direct competition among companies based on price and value less relevant through the introduction of value innovations. The strategy offers firms an easy to follow method by which they could ‘think outside the box’. In addition to these the authors offer a blue print for recognizing thoughts that result from thinking outside the box imposed by existing industry structure. The take away here is to be focused, divergence and compelling tag line.
I enjoyed reading about the differences between technological innovation and value innovation. This discussion was enlightening. This text is recommended to anybody remotely interested in the organization of markets, industries, and firms. The ideas shared in this book will most likely put a neat framework around the ideas you may have already toyed with. One of the best texts I have read lately. (show less) -
I Hate People!: Kick Loose from the Overbearing...
Jonathan LittmanWeak on content. I hate People did not hold my attention past chapter three, despite the rather interesting slant to the title. The text iswritten by a business writer and a comedian. It is rich on concept and fresh in its approach to business writing, however the topic that they chose to address lacks depth. I got the vibe that the authors were forced to continue writing after their main point was completely addressed by chapter two. I hate People is one more example of a business book that ... I got the vibe that the authors were forced to continue writing after their main point was completely addressed by chapter two. I hate People is one more example of a business book that ought to have been a short e-book or a long form magazine article.
I really wanted to like, I Hate People. I received a free copy of the book and a part of me felt obliged to finishing the text. I was drawn to the concept. Light hearted prose about serious topics will always appear novel. I Hate People could not keep me flipping the pages. I’d like to blame information overload but I know that it was more than that, I have read better text written about managing work place relationships. I like the authors, but I hate, I Hate People. Big Picture MBA: What Every Business School Gra...
Peter NavarroUseful. 14 lectures, 7 discs. Peter Navarro does a good job of giving the listeners an overview of what MBA programs offer and the information about the best ways to take advantage of top MBA programs. The sections on strategy and organization behavior were my favorite.
The title may be a bit of a stretch. This is not a substitute for a $35,000 a year program.
I recommend this audiobook to prospective MBA candidates.
