Reviews I've Written

  • Lisey's Story: A Novel
    Stephen King

I almost didn't finish this one. The first few chapters were hard to get into. And at first, I really didn't like Lisey.I'm glad I picked it back up because the rest of the story was quite good.

  • The Dollanger Series; Flowers in the Attic, Pet...
    V.C. Andrews

I read flowers in the attic a loooooooong time ago.I seem to remember getting slightly grossed out by the brother and sister thing but more sad than disgusted.Reminded me of a J.R.R Tolkien story about Turin and his sister.both stories were sad.

  • Everything's Eventual
    Stephen King

As with all Stephen King's short story collections, some of these stories made me laugh.Especially "Autopsy room four".My favorite(sorry but I'm biased here) was "The little sisters of Eluria"Not only did I get the enjoyment of reading another tale about Roland but the main female character has the same name as me :)This one could have had a place in "Wizard and Glass".It really helps you get to understand Roland a little better(especially why he shoots first, as... As with all Stephen King's short story collections, some of these stories made me laugh.Especially "Autopsy room four".My favorite(sorry but I'm biased here) was "The little sisters of Eluria"Not only did I get the enjoyment of reading another tale about Roland but the main female character has the same name as me :)This one could have had a place in "Wizard and Glass".It really helps you get to understand Roland a little better(especially why he shoots first, asks later)
Then we get another dose of the "Dark Tower" with "Everything's Eventual".We get to see where Dinky Earnshaw started out before joining the breakers.I guess it was when he first started "breaking" in a sense.
"In the Deathrom" was quite good also. Not often you get a "happy" ending out of Stephen King ;)
"All that you love will be carried away" was interesting.I still wonder if he saw the lights or not.
"The Death of Jack Hamilton" was another good story. This one is based on the death of a man from John Dillinger's gang. There is some fact thrown in which I think lends the story crediability.
Now "1408" freaked.me.out.I don't think I will watch the movie.I don't want to hear the voice on the phone.Funny,(not "ha ha" funny but "interesting" funny) how the survivors of most Stephen King stories are normally insane afterwards.no wonder but still.
The rest were ok.Out of the six other short stories,"The road virus heads north" was(in my opinion) the best.Everyone has seen one of those pictures where the subject's eyes seem to follow you everywhere so it's easy to imagine.
My least favorite was "That feeling, you can only say what it is in french".I didn't like it at all.It was pretty boring reading (basicly)the same thing, over and over, for 24 pages. (show less)
