The Bronze Horseman
Paullina SimonsSimons has succeeded in writing a novel that will tease and inspire desperate and lonely housewives alike. Whilst Hitler's armies invade the Soviet Union, the main characters in the novel develop their forbidden romance and take advantage of opportunities to fornicate and flirt with each other despite inconveniences such as starvation, scurvy and bombings. A modern day Mills and Boon; The Bronze Horseman was disappointing read but will no doubt continue to excite the ladies.

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time
Mark HaddonMark Haddon provides a portal through which the reader travels to a world seen through different eyes; those of Christopher, a young autistic boy living in England. Haddon, in publishing this book has accomplished a great feat; to inspire in his readers; respect, patience and understanding for things and people they don't understand. The novel is an easy read and the style of writing allows for some humorous and endearing moments with Christopher. (show less)

Kiwis Might Fly
Polly EvansI enjoyed reading this book before moving to New Zealand. Not sure about her references to "Kiwi ingenuity" or "The Kiwi Bloke", it was a little silly and had a weak ending. That aside I enjoyed the random facts about different parts of New Zealand as well as her sincerity. If you have no interest in New Zealand or the antipodes I imagine that you would find the book quite dull.
