Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows
J. K. RowlingAs an adult I think I had a much different reaction to this book than many of the younger readers. It was a decent story and wrapped up the series well, but the revelations and events didn't come as so much of a shock to me as they did for many of the younger fans.

That doesn't make this a bad book, far from it. Rowling does a good job in the entire Potter series of matching the writing style to the age of Harry, and the Deathly Hallows is no exeption to this. (show less) -
Earth Abides
George StewartA startlingly peaceful apocalypse. It's very interesting to compare this novel to other, later, post-apocalyptic novels.
Much has changed since Stewart wrote the book, and I had to constantly remind myself of the publication date when reading it, but I would definitely recommend this book if you enjoy the genre. -
There Will Be Dragons
John RingoJohn Ringo is one of my guilty pleasures. He's not a great author, sometimes he's not even "good," but he can spin a fun yarn. There Will Be Dragons is an amusing story of how the modern Standard Fantasy World --replete with elves, dwarves, dragons, orcs, and all the other staples, could have come to be.
