Faith Under Fire: An Army Chaplain's Memoir
Roger BenimoffVery powerful book. This guy really holds nothing back and seems to give a pretty accurate description of life in Iraq for an army chaplin and life at home afterwards, dealing with PTSD. What I think i liked the most was his honesty in his writing, talking about how he felt, trying to minister to others, when his own faith was crumbling. we all have a lot to learn from this story, to remember the troops in Iraq, but also to remember that once they get home, it's still not life as usual.

This book will make you think about some really hard questions regarding faith. "why do bad things happen to good people?" questions, that took the author over two tours in Iraq to try and comprehend. I highly recommend this book. (show less) -
Gods and Generals
Jeff ShaaraI agree with Mark, God's and Generals is very worthy of this series. Jeff Sharaa writes much like his father did in The Killer Angels. He goes through intense detail about battles and explaining what it happening on the battlefield, I found that it was really hard to put this book down during those times, which is most of the book. This novel really helped convey the complete incompetence of union commanders pre-Gettysburg. The book introduced me to new characters of the war that I've never ... (show more)

This novel really helped convey the complete incompetence of union commanders pre-Gettysburg. The book introduced me to new characters of the war that I've never heard of before, it's been really exiting to read about these battles in vivid detail, then going back to do my own research and find out more about the amazing people who fought the civil war. Jeff Sharaa really did his homework. If you are interested in history, this is a novel that will keep you fascinated the whole way through. read this book! (show less)

Alexander the Great: Journey to the End of the ...
Norman F. Cantorvery good read, this book is really good. The author does a great job to skim all the Alexander 'legend' away and just get to the facts of how Alexander lived and who he was. He even offers dissenting opions, which is something that I really appreciate. I think that if you were ever curious about what made Alexander the Great, great, read this book. It really made me think and marvel at what he was able to accomplish. It's really a shame that it was so long ago that there are few historical s... (show more)

It really made me think and marvel at what he was able to accomplish. It's really a shame that it was so long ago that there are few historical sources to draw information from, but at the same time that's what makes Alexander so remarkable. Read this book, it will completely change your opinion on Alexander (show less)
