I know that the book obviously saw some unprecedented growth at first so I was curious how you first heard about the book and rowling herself. I heard about it through my parents whose friends had been reading it on the subway etc.

I read them after there was already a lot of hype and some friends and my sister told me I would love them. I'm so glad I did. They're amazing.

I have two sisters who are younger then me who wanted the books because they had heard abou them through friends and school! We actually went on vacation to my aunts, just my sisters and myself, and my youngest sister was very home sick so they only way to get her to stay calm at night was to read to her. The only books they brought were the first 3 Harry Potters. So that was how I first got into the Harry Potter phoenominon!

Well, I actually got the book from a friend who was moving and never even heard of it! I am a fiction/adventure fan who loves the supernatural and was immediately hooked the moment Vernon was confused by the "reading cat" who was Professor McGonald! ha ha ha! Three years later the whole world went mad about it and a movie was then being made!

When the book became a very big hit, my brother read it a lot. I teased him for it so much that mom laid down the law. I could only tease him after I read it myself. Three or four chapters in and my brother would never be teased again. Rowling is a very good storyteller like that.

when i bought the first book some years ago, i've never even heard of it before. i had been walking in a department store when i saw a huge section all decorated with a Harry Potter theme. i thought it looked interesting so i walking over and saw that they were selling books. lots of people were buying it so i thought "what the heck." when i first read the summary thing in the inside cover flap, i remember thinking how i couldnt understand what the book was all about. but eventually i grew to love the book and the series and became hooked on it like the millions of other people out there.

Even as a kid I loved to read. My parents would come in and read to us every night. One of the books that we went through, chapter by chapter was this book. A lover of fantasy to this day, I quickly reread the book by myself and then the 2nd one, then the 3rd, and so on

My friends at school were just chatting that there is no one who read this book and doesn't like it. I told them that I will read and I will prove you that I won't like it. But I become a fan of the book even more than them :)

I found this serie nonsense, more purposeless...My friends, elder-sister(!) adored it and my sister told me that when you start to read it you can leave it, that it was so exciting...so i gave it a shot and had to blush when admitting she was right

i got the book from my brother about a year before everyone went nuts about them. loved them from the get go and couldn't wait for the rest to come out. read all of the books about three times over. there is so much detail that you find something new everytime.
