Can someone please check for me something in their own copy?
Right at the beginning of the book, at the end of 'A Note to the Reader', it says Oxford, England and then what date?

The reason I'm asking this is because, I bought this book in October 2007 but only just got round to reading it. I picked it up on the 15th January 2008. I got to the end of the author's foreword ('A Note to the Reader'), and I got quite excited, as just after reading two pages the book was promising to be quite exciting, little bit scary even, a good old vampire/ghost story... when... I got to the date and under Oxford, England it says January15, 2008 !!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Spooooookyy !!!!!!

Can someone have a look please... :-)

My book has the same date. I wonder what was the subliminal message intended by the author.

Yup, that's the date. I noticed it too, and it lent a great spine-tingler to the book. And think about this: those of us who've read it now are the only ones who will ever get that sensation from that date.

That's pretty cool.

OMG - I didn't realize the date - I read this book more than a year ago - well before 2008 at least, and didn't even think twice about the future date : ) weird and super spooky.

Wow, I read The Historian back in the summer of 2005 when it first came out! I'll have to check the date when I get home....
