Superlative! So many unexpected insights into the inner workings of knowledge acquisition through studying plot technique, story structure and characterization.
An absolute must for anyone who is writing fiction, it raises questions I did not even consider for my first six years (the unpublished years) of writing
It was phenomenal and everything that I read was really easy to understand. He made some really good points on how to create a believeable characters and which viewpoints would work best. It made me realized that there is a lot more to creating a believeable character than I was lead to believe. I would recommend this books to anyone who is interested in writing and wants to write well. It's well worth the read.
This was a wonderful book. Lots of great tips on the mindset the writer needs to be in when crafting believable, strong characters in fiction. I would definitely recommend this book (along with the rst of the Elements in Fiction Writing series) to any aspiring writer.
This is the second of two books I've read on how to develop characters in fiction, and this is by far the better of them. It's interesting to come across the occasional sentence that reminds the reader how far computers and word processing has come since this was written only 20 or so years ago, but the information is not outdated by any means. Many of the reflections written here may help overcome writer's block. I recommend this book, it is an enjoyable and helpful read, even if the writer does not believe they need any help.
Aproximacion al ser humano por medio de estereotipos y disercion de su forma de approach the world. Solo una aproximacion, depronto rayando en el comun, pero por lo menos es un intento. Muy bueno para escritores y filmmakers.
Orson Scott Card is the master of character development and in this book he reveals his methods. A must read for anyone that wants to create rich, and interesting characters. I also picked up a few techniques that I will be using for creating powerful website personas for my clients. Well done Scott.
You may think this book describes an element of fiction writing that should be obvious to any non-novice. But trust me, even if you consider yourself an excellent writer, any of OSC's instructional books will guide you to new ideas on how to manage your stories that you hadn't thought of yet.
While there are some specific examples in this book that are somewhat dated, the advice Card gives on characterizagion is amzaing. This book also had diagrams (for those writers who think visually) about view point that explained better than anywhere else the differences between viewpoints and narrators and narrative distance. Excellent read!
Worth reading if you're into creating characters, though it largely rehashes old ideas from other sources.
