Purpose Driven Romance

The last thing singles want is more rules. But if you’re looking for an intentional, God-pleasing game plan for finding a future spouse, Joshua Harris delivers an appealing one. A compelling new foreword, an all-new “8 Great Courtship Conversations” section, and updated material throughout makes this five-year revision of the original Boy Meets Girl a must-have! Harris illustrates how biblical courtship—a healthy, joyous alternative to recreational dating—worked for him and his wife. Boy Meets Girl presents an inspiring, practical example for readers wanting to pursue the possibility of marriage with someone they may be serious about.

Are you ready for “romance with purpose”?

If you’re fed up with self-centered relationships that end in disillusionment, it’s time to rethink romance. Finding the loving, committed relationship you want shouldn’t mean throwing away your hopes, your integrity, or your heart.

In Boy Meets Girl, Joshua Harris —the guy who kissed dating goodbye—makes the case for courtship. As old-fashioned as it might sound, courtship is what modern day relationships desperately need. Think of it as romance chaperoned by wisdom, cared for by community, and directed by God’s Word.

Filled with inspiring stories from men and women who have rediscovered courtship, Boy Meets Girl is honest, romantic, and refreshingly biblical. Keep God at the center of your relationship as you discover how to: Set a clear course for your romance Get closer without compromise Find support in a caring community Deal with past sexual sin Make the right decisions about your future

New! Courtship Conversations

Eight ideas for great dates that will help grow and guide your relationship.

Story Behind the Book

“I wrote I Kissed Dating Goodbye to challenge singles to drop the worldly approach to serial dating and reconsider the way they pursued romance in light of God’s Word. Since then, I’ve received letters asking questions like, So, what comes between friendship and marriage? and, How can you know when you are ready for marriage? Boy Meets Girl answers those questions. Now as a happily married man I can look back on my courtship with Shannon and see from personal experience that God is faithful. If you trust Him enough to wait on romance in dating, He will lovingly guide you as you pursue it in courtship…right to that wonderful moment when you kneel together at the altar.” — Joshua Harris (show less)

Quote-leftA delightful journey into the world of courtship and the very individual people who participate in it. I love the fact that Mr. Harris brings to the surface examples of real people whose stories differ widely from each other, but yet cling to the foundational concepts of purity, holiness and wisdom. :)Quote-right

Quote-leftThis was VERY helpful...
It talks about what GOD wants in a relationship, not what PEOPLE want...
Cause after all a marriage is all about glorifying God
Courtship is all about building a greater friendship, and determining whether or not you would like to get married... its not physical or emotionally draining like dating is.
You don't actually court until you're old enough to actually start thinking about marriage... it is a serious thing.
This book told me how courting can be the best thing for you and your love interest... and how you can guard your heart, as well as the other persons heart, and think what would be best for them... but most of all, what would glorify Jesus Christ.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who is thinking about marriage, or has been burned by dating and is looking for something worth while to do with the person you love

Quote-leftRefreshing look at courtship and romance. I think the key things I got reminded about from reading this book is to guard and grow in friendship, fellowship and romance. More importantly, it's not about idolising marriage by pressing towards it forced-ly. Courtship and marriage is another stage of life that still teaches us the same thing - to depend on the Lord more and more and love Him.Quote-right

Quote-leftWhile this focuses on courtship relationships, I feel this book is a wonderful challenge for all individuals to pursue God and His plan passionately first. When we place God as first in every area of our lives (including our love lives) He is able to give us the most wonderful and romantic love story ever and guide us through the ins and outs of what is often seems difficult and confusing. Harris covers a number of topics, which I felt gave practical examples of situations that modern day Christian couples face. In the newer edition, the Courtship Conversations are extremely helpful, especially if you are already in a relationship and want ideas on how to spark talk about essentials. Overall, I found it to offer a great framework for how a godly relationship leading to marriage should be pursued and maintained. I definitely recommend it!Quote-right

Quote-leftIf you agreed with the first book 100%, you will LOVE this book. If you gleamed the great principles from the first book without buying his methodology entirely, then you may find this book slightly lacking. Either way, a great book. Well written. Christ centered. I enjoyed the first volume a lot more, though this was the inevitable and likely needed follow-up.Quote-right

Quote-leftI loved this book. I am glad that I took the time to read it-- I needed to see the whole picture of what the decision to wait on God--instead of jumpoing blindly into a relationship--can do for a person spiritually and relationallyQuote-right

Quote-leftThis is a great book for any Christian young person in or about to enter a relationship. Joshua Harris has matured a lot since his first book "I Kissed Dating Goodbye," and is a lot clearer on some of his opinions presented. It is very practical and brings a reality check to the emotional highs in a relationship.Quote-right

Quote-left"Boy Meets Girl: Say Hello to Courtship," by Joshua Harris, was such a blessing to read. It really gave me a new-found respect for my future husband and a desire to honor him with my actions even before I meet him. It also was a great reminder as to the roles men and women have in relationships and the importance to follow God's direction through the whole process. Overall, I learned so much from this book! Praise the Lord!Quote-right
