From the bestselling and critically acclaimed author of The Hidden Diary of Marie Antoinette comes a powerful new novel about Catherine Parr, The Last Wife of Henry VIII.
The least known of Henry VIII’s six wives was the cleverest of them all. Alluring, witty, and resourceful, she attracted the king’s lust and, though much in love with the handsome Thomas Seymour, was thrown into the intrigue-filled snakepit of the royal court. While victims of the king’s wrath suffe... (show more)

Not a bad book, surprising though that the author spends a lot of the novel in Catherine's childhood and first 2 marriages of which very little is known historically. Then she spends a little time with Henry (oh, and the dropped warrant for Catherine's arrest, a well documented incident is nowhere to be found). Then she marries Tom Seymour, has a kid and dies. It was quite scandulous that she married Seymour so fast after Henry died. Also, the affair between Tom and Elizabeth went on for quite some time. No mention of Tom trying to kidnap Edward. No mention of Jane Grey who lived with them at Chelsea and Tom's plot to have Edward marry Jane. What happened? Did this book have a word count limit? I understand that a lot of authors of historical fiction sometimes try to get away from the "overused" bits, but I feel that a lot of very important information was glossed over.
This book wasn't bad...I read it mostly to fill in some gaps in between the Phillipa Gregory books I've been reading, which it did. I didn't find it quite as good, but I think I just like the way Phillipa tells her stories better (and I got spoiled by her labeling each chapter with a month and year, which this one didn't do, so its a little harder to follow the progression of time). This book focuses (as the title suggests) on Katherine Parr, the final wife of Henry VIII. Since she did not live in the Royal court all her life, it was interesting to hear a perspective from someone not knee-deep in the scandals and gossip that occur in the Palace, and to get more of a "commoner's" viewing of the King and his courtiers.
well I didn't technically read it, I listened to it on an audio cd, but I think that counts. I quite liked it, I love all that stuff about The Tudors.
An OK read, but ultimately disappointing. Perhaps I'm just watching too much of The Tudors and expected more drama.
Meh. I wasn't excited. I liked it better than Josephine...But I enjoy Philippa Gregory more. But it was good.
I really enjoyed this book - very similar to Phillippa Gregory, it kind of finishes her Henry VIII series.
LOVE this book! I couldn't put it down! It was so nice to read about a wife other than Anne Bolyen! Great perspective!!
I love books about this era. This one was a great story about Catherine Parr. I really enjoyed her writing.
While, this book wasn't the best book on the topic, it was interesting and held my interest. A good read.
Not so much. I was bored by it and felt it was a little far reaching. sometimes overly dramatic sometimes not enough
