Quote-leftI love this book. I love fairy tales and I also greatly enjoy reading reworked fairy tales. The tale East of the Sun and West of the Moon is one of my favorite stories. This book dives deeper into that story, alternating the view between Rose, the bear, the witch and other characters. A great great book.Quote-right

Quote-leftOne of the best examples of a fantasy story out there. I loved that the book was based off of a fairy tale, and I thought it was beautifully written. So intriguing, I would recommend it to anybody. Definitely in my top ten favorite books. Well done Edith! Simply gorgeous.Quote-right

Quote-leftI liked it. I recently performed in the play "East of the Sun, West of the Moon" and there were both positive and negative aspects to both. All in all, though, "East" was a good read. I liked it.Quote-right

Quote-leftI love this book! I've read it so many times. It's supposed to be a retelling of East of the Moon, West of the Sun (or something like that), but I think it really resembles a beauty and the beast story. And I love the beauty and the beast fairytale. But it also reminds me of a couple diffent fairytales besides. Rose is a great character and I hate the Troll Queen! Great book!Quote-right

Quote-leftI didn't love this book. I think perhaps a middle divisioner would love it. I found it to be a bit derivitive, and seemed to pick unrelated bits of myth and folktales without a clear idea of how to weave them into a seamless whole. I was annoyed by her not taking the time to make things plausible, instead relying on "I don't know why I could breathe underwater, I guess it was bear magic." I mean really. Spend a bit of thought and make it work.Quote-right

Quote-leftThis book is great! Using many different viewpoints throughout the book was a neat idea and gave the book a fresh look with each chapter. As you search far lands with Rose you learn what it may take to find the one you love...Quote-right

Quote-leftThis is a very unique variation of a very beloved fairy tale (I won't tell you which one), but with a much stronger heroine! It's a terrific fantasy for young readers.Quote-right
