I loved it, it's very creative. I would say that if you like stories based on magical things or creatures read this!
Best books I have ever read. I still cry when... well i guess you will have to ask if you wanna know.
A fabulous series written by one of the kings of literature in our age. An absolute must read whether you're 'too old' for fairy tales or not. This shows off C. S. Lewis' ability to write in the most simple of fashions
i absolutely love the chronicles of narnia. i first read them as a little girl, and have re-read them countless times since. it still amazes me how c.s. lewis can so masterfully weave the theology of christianity with simple, exciting plotlines and create a series of wonderful, intriguing stories for children. these stories are truly magical, and encompass the ability to make me delve deeper into my faith, as well as to provide me with a great afternoon of fun curled up on the couch.
my favorite books in the series are, "the horse and his boy" and "the voyage of the dawn treader".
I don't care about the christian thing - I loved these books as a kid, and I never found it to be heavy handed or dogmatic (unlike the P. Pullman crap).
some of my favorite books ever, as a set. my two favorites though are prince caspian and the voyage of the dawn treader.
I've never met anyone that doesn't love Narnia. It never ceases to amaze me how C.S. Lewis takes complicated theology and writes it in a way that children can understand. Even more amazing is that he does so without dumbing down the subject matter at all. These are simply done and beautiful. "The Silver Chair" is pretty hard to get through... kind of boring. With the exception of that, it's easy to sail through the series, and still glean a wealth of spiritual information, as well as true entertainment.
My roommate bought these for me when I was in college. I was glad I was sick with the flu so I could read them straight through without worrying about going to class.
As a child, I had no friends. I was a loner and books were my friends. This series kept me entertained for years. I still reread it about once a year. Very nostalgic for me.
All the books sound to me like a magic advanture, until I finished the last pages of the last book........ Then I suddently realised the trun meaning of this series is much much more serious than "just an advanture"....
