This is the book that made me a Karen Kingsbury fan. I can't get enough of the Baxter family. I love the lessons I have learned while reading her books.
I love this series and this family. Even though its predictable, its an easy read and I can't get enough of it.
Great book, though I did not know what I was in for when I started it. Apparently I need to read A LOT of books to get to an end of this story :)
I have read most of her books, she is an awesome writer. She does get a bit too churchy (for me) at times. I then have to weed those parts out in my mind, but great author. NOTE; Most but not all her books are series, so you have to read them in order.
This was a very good book. I have a friend that is going through similar circumstances right now and at times it was a little too close to home for comfort. But it was good to push through and realize that there is always redemption in Christ Jesus.
Series came highly recommended... so I just got into it. But the first book was great.. pretty emotional.
The book starts slow, giving the impression that Kingsbury is glossing over important details that will make the struggle of the characters more believable. But as the story progresses, the characters become more developed and draw the reader in as their souls become visible with all their frailty.
The book is part of a five book series so several loose ends will be subsequently developed. If you need to know how the whole story ends, then know that you will want to read all five. However, Redemption is quite satisfying as a standalone read.
Overall, the book is engaging—not always believable—but dealing with real struggles and how Christians respond to them with choices that are not always popular in a sea of well-meaning opinion.
wow...this is what got me all started and hooked. This is such an incredible series. I can not think of a single thing wrong with it. It is a must read for every Christian woman that likes novels.
This is the first book by Karen Kingsbury that I have read. It was excellent! Highly recommended. I can't wait to start the next one in this series.
Having been in Church leadership for a very long time I understand that these books want to give hope in difficult pastoral issues. Somehow they just don't hit the mark for me. Everything doesn't always turn out right!
