I think I mentioned before that I simply love Kurt Wallander. Very good and not so obvious crime story placed in cold, windy, Autumn Swedish landscape. Plus a few interesting observations on Swedish society in 1990's.
I have it allready for a long timen, but have not read it yet. Do not know why. I shall put it aside so I can start it after I finished the book that I am reading now.
a great police procedural. henning is at the top of his game and one of the paramount hard-boiled kings available today.
Typical Wallander novel, drags on a bit and the constant references to how Sweden used to be a safer country get old after a while. But the story about a female murderer, who takes revenge for victims of abuse, through a series of brutal killings is quite good.
what's not to like about brooding, dark mysteries that take place in a land of long winters and dark days? Really uplifting...but at the same time addictive...
Probably one of the best in the series so far. Gets into the nitty gritty of police work which often relies on luck, happenstance and instinct and how they can also lead you down the wrong paths. A great writer.
Disturbing novel about a woman, who is looking for justice, killing man after man, leaving Wallander and his collegues with a lot of questions and helplessness, but giving them hints at the same time. Suspenseful and touching. I love the way Mankell describes Wallander´s life, his struggles.
To everybody who doesn´t know the film: amazing, highly recommendable! All of Mankell´s other books - not only crime stories- are great, too!!!
Excellent read. Kept me guessing all the way through. As well as all the detail surrounding the investigation, there's a lot of description of the Swedish countryside and interesting characters. I'll be reading more of his books.
