Kurt Cobain filled dozens of notebooks with lyrics, drawings, and writings about his plans for Nirvana and his thoughts about fame, the state of music, and the people who bought and sold him and his music. Over twenty of these notebooks survived his many moves and travels and have been locked in a safe since his death. His journals reveal an artist who loved records, who knew the history of rock, and who was determined to define his place in that history.

i loved it! i felt a little intrusive looking through his most personal thoughts, but it really opened my eyes to who cobain really was.
I honestly didn't know what to expect when I opened this, but it gave me great insight into Cobain's drug use...such as the causes of it and the attempts to stop. It also opened my eyes to all the things he stood for that I had had no idea about. It gave me a new respect for Cobain and I highly recommend this to anyone, Nirvana fan or not.
This book truly gives you an insight into the mind of one of the twisted and most talented songwriters in history. Kurt is at once extremely intelligent, immature, self-loathing, arrogant, humble, honest, and tells his fair share of tall tales. A case study of bipolar disorder and drug addiction. I absolutely love this book. You are looking at Rock and Roll history.
Read "Heavier than Heaven" before this book, in order to get an understanding of some of the entries.
its somebodys personal thoughts so what can i say.So all i can say is that there was alot of genius wrapped up in there it was just hard to find
interesting, an insight into a pretty important pop culture figure. too scattered though, not a lot of coherence. courtney love apparently sucks at editing too
an insight into the mind of a great musician, but more significantly a glimpse of the inner thoughts of a beautiful person.
I was at the university bookstore the minute this book came out... I'd been looking forward to it's release for a long, long time. And it was everything I'd hoped it would be: weird, fascinating, funny, depressing, confusing...
An even More In-depth Vision of Life through Kurts eyes... Then again isn't every second spent reading about him a completely different veiw of Life?
Not just a run of the mill diary and more of a notebook of thoughts and ideas .... a really good insight into Kurts head
