this book really teachs the importance of friendship.i dident want it to end. Sarah Dessen is one of my favorite authors because she does an exellent job of explaining teens with out being corny...it's hard to do that and not many authors are success ful.
one of my top two favourites in my high school years. the movie "how to deal" ruined scarlett's persona and it was one mandy moore film i despised.
I loved it.. it was touching although a bit predictable; but it was still a bit surprising. It's romantic and heart felt, and it teaches you a lot about judging others
LOVE LOVE LOVE! I totally saw How to Deal before I ever knew this book and That Summer existed so I kept thinking about the movie but honestly I really adored this book. I love Sarah Dessen because she always writes about real issues people go through some beautifuly real. I always feel like her characters are my friends and I could totally relate to Halley and her relationship with her mom. Basically just a very good book.
Not as good as Dessen's later books (The Truth About Forever). She does capture the beginnings of teenage rebellion well, including the feeling of wanting the boyfriend long after he's stopped being good for you. I like the friendship between Halley and Scarlett.
Sarah Dessen does an excellent job of bringing her characters to life, I love that both in her other works and in this book
Very, very good. I enjoyed it more than the movie, HOW TO DEAL. I think I read this twice. I loved Haley's character.
I thought it was a great book! It really shows the meaning of friendship and the obstacles that teens might have to face in life. This is another one of my favorites by Sarah Dessen.
I saw the movie. I was ok but I wouldn't read the book only because I only read the book before the movie but no after. I am sure the book is better though
I can honestly say, after thinking about it, that it is one of my favorite books. Sarah Dessen never fails to deliver a hearty story about the friendship and loyalty between family and friends.
