Abundance: A Novel of Marie Antoinette

I have not read much about Marie Antoinette but found this book to be well written. What I really like about the book was that it was written in the first person. As for being historical correct, I really do not know. The book is an easy read.
***** read it in 6 nights- impossible to put down
Others commented that it sounded like a teenagers' diary- she WAS a teenager and, then, extremely sheltered at Versailles away from the politics of France and the social upheaval in Paris. Well researched and written with the true depth, pain and, sometimes, trivialities of the circumstances.
Beautifully and elaborately written. The title perfectly suits the style of writing. If one reads any novel about Marie Antoinette, read this one. Follow it with the essential biography by Antonia Fraser.
Loved it. It showed the vulnerability, innocence, elegance and naivety of the princess and how gossip can cause ruin.
Very absorbing, beautifully written, and of course I was crying through the last 50 pages. Marie Antoinette is remembered (if at all) as a caricature of excess, but this novel shows her humanity -- both the best and the worst in her character -- and it made me reflect on my own. Excellent.
One of the best books by far that have been written about Marie Antoinette that I have read. I love how the author's research included the letters that Marie Antoinette wrote herself and I love that the author drew on those letters to give Marie Antoinette her voice in this book. If Sofia Copla had used this book as a reference (even though it is fiction) her movie would of been so much better.
couldn't put this down. the contrast between "toinette's" naive, caring sweetness and callous, selfish extravagance was beautifully rendered.
A little slow, but still a very well written novel. I knew the end and kept wishing that it would change.
This is a phenomenal book. As for those of you doubting the historical accuracy, try reading the author's preface/introduction. Everything that she constructed in the book came from the most current Marie Antoinette scholarship. Naslund is a PhD at the University of Kentucky. She's is a skilled researcher and a great writer. A must read for lovers of historical fiction!
It took some time to get into this. All in all, pretty interesting. You must enjoy historical fiction though.
