Ursula K. Le Guin is one of the greatest science fiction writers and many times the winner of the Hugo and Nebula Awards. her career as a novelist was launched by the three novels contained in Worlds of Exile and Illusion. These novels, Rocannon's world, Planet of Exile, and City of Illusions, are set in the same universe as Le Guin's groundbreaking classic, The Left hand of Darkness.

Tor is pleased to return these previously unavailable works to print in this attractive new edition.

  • Good stuff; ULGs hainish books have a nice progression to them; her story telling if you have never read any is masterful from the start, I like the description that she 'writs science fiction for people that don't like science fiction'
So the sense of continuity through the three stories here came as a surprise, having read two of them before, out of sequence, and so having a more patchy sense of teh development of series. But thats ok, they are so good, and teh hainish stuff so challenging... (show more)

So the sense of continuity through the three stories here came as a surprise, having read two of them before, out of sequence, and so having a more patchy sense of teh development of series. But thats ok, they are so good, and teh hainish stuff so challenging and enthralling to read, taht I had forgotten a lot of the details anyway.
Id be interested to introduce these books to a friend in sequence and see how they feel about them. (show less)

Another escape from mundane territories by the high priestess of fantasy, Ursula LeGuin. Read it if you've read all the EarthSea novels and want some more.
