Neat how Voigt takes certain characters in the main story and takes a single book to zoom in on their life...
i've never read any of the other books in this series but i've read this one a bunch of times. it was my favorite book in middle and high school.
Very well written. I love the way this author makes you feel like you are there. I read it after my daughter read it for summer reading for school.
I read this book in grade 7 and it's been my favourite ever since.
I got so attached to it and I make reference to it all the time.
I love it.

I read this when I was about 9, or thereabouts - and the story is still in my head, amazing writing, so powerful and real.
Good book. Read it even if you don't care about guitars or mothers that are selfish and don't care about you.
accompanies dicey's song, about the boy who grows up to fall in love with her. award winning and incredible.
One of my all time favorite revealing sincere love, longing, and maturity of the heart with a sweet agonizing ending. I simply cannot forget this book.
like his friend dicey's, jeff greene's mom also left when he was small. jeff hates living with his father and always looks forward to his visits with his mother, but when he finally finds out the truth, he learns that things - or people in his case - are not always what they seem. newbery honor awardee.
