Sixteen-year-old Macy Queen is looking forward to a long, boring summer. Her boyfriend is going away. She's stuck with a dull-asdishwater job at the library. And she'll spend all of her free time studying for the SATs or grieving silently with her mother over her father's recent unexpected death. But everything changes when Macy is corralled into helping out at one of her mother's open house events, and she meets the chaotic Wish Catering crew. Before long, Macy joins the Wish team. But everything changes when Macy is corralled into helping out at one of her mother's open house events, and she meets the chaotic Wish Catering crew. Before long, Macy joins the Wish team. She loves everything about the work and the people. But the best thing about Wish is Wes—artistic, insightful, and understanding Wes—who gets Macy to look at life in a whole new way, and really start living it…. (show less)

If you adore teenage love stories, this is your book. I fell in love with Macy and Wes's characters, and want to keep reading. All of Sarah Dessens books look so good and this is the first one I have read from her. The book starts out a little slow, but In the middle it sucked me in, I read the about 400 page book in almost 2 days. That might be a long time for some of you, but for me that is a lot!!! This is such a "chick flick" book that i would love if they would turn it into a movie. Dessen made every character unique and amazing. My favorite character was definatly Wes, and I think most would agree with me on that. If you havent rea this book it is a MUST!! i am making my friend read it, its so amazingly good! READ IT!! Sarah Dessen does a wonderful job at creating stories that are very dynamic, with many things going on and lessons being taught, while keeping it easy to follow and fun to read. Sarah Dessen does a wonderful job at creating stories that are very dynamic, with many things going on and lessons being taught, while keeping it easy to follow and fun to read. The characters are all strongly influential one way or another (i.e. Jason is totally perfect, Macy's mother is completely strict and proper, etc.) yet still believable. Probably one of my favorite aspects of the book is the change that the protagonist goes through, and the revelation that comes along with it. She transitions from constantly striving to be perfect, along with it being unhappy, to messing up a little bit but at the same time being the happiest she's ever been. After meeting Wes, she also realizes how poisonous her relationship with Jason was to her personal image. Just like the back cover description of the book wraps up perfectly, Macy does have to decide whether it's better to be safe than sorry. (show less)
