"If there is one thing I think the Church needs to learn," Andrew Murray writes, "it is that God means prayer to have an answer, and that it hath not entered into the heart of man to conceive what God will do for His child who gives himself to believe that his prayer will be heard." You must read this book! Are your prayers consistently answered? Have you justified the lack of response with: "It must not be in God's will" or "perhaps he has something better for me"? Shame on us for blaming God for our lack of faith in his promises! Andrew Murray pierces to the heart of every Christian's struggles and promises hope and a more powerful prayer life. Learn from Christ Himself how to pray, how to get an answer from God, why there may appear to be no answer, when to persevere in prayer and when to check your heart and your attitude.
Every Christian must read this book and practice its disciplines until the world is changed by our prayer. The excerpt on George Mueller's ministry is eye opening as well. I'm reading this book again ASAP and I consider it foundational to my growth as a child of God. I am learning that it is more important to pray much and work just enough to let the Spirit work out in the world than to work much and pray enough to support the work. Prayer is my highest calling and my true mission. (show less)

Matt,
Yes, this is a wonderful and challenging read. If you like Murray, then I suspect you will greatly appreciate Alexander Whyte's _Lord, Teach Us to Pray_ as well.
Grace and peace,
Joe
