Like any book that improves my understanding of a subject, this book rates highly because it's about how non-Christians perceive Christianity and the people who claim to follow Christ. It's based on scientific research which results in people outside Christianity coming to the conclusion that Christians no longer represent what Jesus talks about. It shows why it's important for Christians to know what the Bible says and keep their actions consistent with what they claim to believe, otherwise they do more to exclude people from Jesus' grace than to draw people in. Don't be a hypocrite, and don't judge. There's no room. Good stuff to keep in your head. (show less)

I have the same problem with this book that I have with most of Barna Books. I love the research. It's enlightening and begs engagement with our culture. However, this filter through which it is processed drives me crazy. If Christians are to engage the culture (using the presented information) in the modernistic way the information is presented in this book, we will still be misunderstood and becoming irrelevant in a changing society. In the end, I will end up appreciating the fact that I read this book. I love the challenge it presents. It's real and important and shouldn't be taken lightly. However, this book didn't give any insights as to how to apply this information to real life which can leave the reader frustrated. Enlightening, but ultimately: mission unaccomplished. This book is a very challenging and thought provoking book for anyone who wants to live like Jesus. Anyone with interaction with young people (Mosaic generation) and a desire to grow as an individual to be more like Jesus would greatly benefit from this book. This book is a very challenging and thought provoking book for anyone who wants to live like Jesus. Anyone with interaction with young people (Mosaic generation) and a desire to grow as an individual to be more like Jesus would greatly benefit from this book. It shares the research of the Barna Group about how young people in our culture perceive Christians. The results often helped me to understand my own impressions and challenges me as I think of how often I have contributed to the negative image that young people have of Christians; not to mention how I personally need to change in order to stop pushing others away from coming to know Jesus. The frustrations of this age group 16-30ish, have often been my own frustrations with the Church universal and with my own faith. The faith they see is not the reality of what Jesus taught- it is the reality of how poorly Jesus's self-proclaimed followers have lived out his message. In the eyes of those who do not claim to be Christians, Christ's followers look more like the teachers of the law in Jesus's time- and anyone who has read Jesus's words to them should sit up and pay attention to this research. • It was very interesting to see how the world views Christianity. I liked how the book covered each misconception about Christianity: Hypocritical, too bent on getting people saved, anti homosexual, sheltered, too political and judgmental. It was sort of a wake up call, telling Christians to get their act together and follow what Jesus taught. Because we have become to detached from society and judge people to much. It was sort of a wake up call, telling Christians to get their act together and follow what Jesus taught. Because we have become to detached from society and judge people to much. Taught me how to love people more and how to preach the Gospel to them with 100% truth and 100% grace. I think that's the best advice to give Christians today. And read the Bible. This book was good, and enlightening in some areas. The author did a good job at addressing the problems and telling us how we can fix them. (show less)

    Pray needed

This book is very hard to read not in words or concepts but in emotion. As someone who loves Christ's bride (the church) so much the statements that UnChristians make about the church break my heart. The sad reality is that in some church across America these preceptions are true, however I believe that God wants to change these perceptions using the same people that made UnChristians believe their perceptions. Please pray for those that read this book, including my self, that they would listen to the Holy Spirit and understand where the UnChristians are coming from.
