Even if you love 'em or hate 'em, you should read this book. The bios are so varied and everyone will relate to someone in this book, even if you don't have a tattoo . . . yet. You will gain a better understanding about why the woman or girl in your life took that 'forever' step and hopefully, a greater appreciation of the deeply personal soul expression of the "inked chick" through the art she wears. I too wish there were better pictures - not just faint drawings on the first page of each of the stories . . . (show less)

No, it's a flop!

Interesting book. Easy to read, could have done with some accompanying photos. Didn't feel it was a really in depth study, but good all the same.

  • I loved this book! It was great to read the reasons behind the tattoos of other women and to know that I am not the only one with parents who disapprove. And, as expected, I now have the urge for another tattoo. I know it's inevitable but it just may be a matter of sooner rather than later. I just wish this book had photos of the various tattoos mentioned in the essays; I'd love to see them.

Interesting and fun book that tells the stories of why we women get tattoos. I didn't realize that parents still disapproved so much! My favourite story was by Michelle Swartz about her grandmother who got a red sportscar and a pig tattoo on her 80th birthday. You go, Girl!

I was drawn to this book because I have two tattoos. One is of two hearts with a purple flower on either side on my left shoulder that I got when I was 30 (it used to have my and my first husband's initials in the heart... (show more)

I was drawn to this book because I have two tattoos. One is of two hearts with a purple flower on either side on my left shoulder that I got when I was 30 (it used to have my and my first husband's initials in the hearts which I've since had lasered out and touched up) and a sunflower that I got when I was 44 (October 2006).

I think tattoos are cools and will no doubt get more ink in the future. (show less)
