With a foreword by Billy Graham and now repackaged for a new generation of readers, The Master Plan of Evangelism will show every Christian how to minister to the people God brings into their lives. Instead of drawing on the latest popular fad or the newest selling technique, Robert E. Coleman looks to the Bible to find the answer to the question, What was Christ's strategy for evangelism? Through a thorough examination of the gospel accounts, Coleman points out unchanging, simple, yet profound biblical principles of how to emulate Christ to others. (show less)

This was a phenomenal read! I approached this book because I had a desire to better understand the concept of evangelism. However, this book did not only further my understanding of evangelism, but rather totally redefined it for me. Coleman focuses on what goes on inside the church rather than beyond it, placing his emphasis on proper discipleship of new believers, bringing their knowledge of Christ and the scriptures to fullness, and training them up for leadership in the church. It is by this, he argues, that one furthers the kingdom. These men are equipped to do for others what you did for them, and so on, and so on. He presents a method that is self-replicating, and does not measure success only by numbers, but by the depth and breadth of the Christianity that is produced in the disciples. In short, evangelism is not just the act of bringing one to a statement of faith, but the act of discipling believers and walking with them, possibly for years, until they have a mature faith and can begin the process of discipling others themselves. I really want to read this book because, as Christians need to be prepared to evangelize in our daily lives. It is the best application that we can have the word of God along with our witness. (show less)

God used Coleman to convict my stubborn heart, I then joyfully repented b/c my idea of evangelism was --most importantly--unbiblical but --nearly as bad-- selfish! Let's face it my brothers, we dream of doing it our way with big crowds and big programs thereby giving us a stellar reputation." Coleman says get a grip. Jesus discipled --truly discipled-- a few completely unassuming men. Our judgemental hearts would have immediately cast aside Jesus' disciples if we were alive then.

Jesus discipled --truly discipled-- a few completely unassuming men. Our judgemental hearts would have immediately cast aside Jesus' disciples if we were alive then.

Live out Jesus in every relationship but dedicate your energy to engaging, teaching, and mentoring 2,3,4 even 12 people. Do it as long and as intentionally as you can Coleman would say. They will then go out and do the same thing. Before you know it, disciples are sproutig everywhere making more disciples! This biblical way of going about it --though requiring more patience-- is the Godly and most effective method of evangelizing...Jesus himself did it!

Our mission is clear, our mission is simple, our mission is covenantal and to be lived out with the utmost of purpose. We are united body and soul to Jesus for eternity, lets act like it! (show less)

Great book, I wish more people would read this one and take it to heart. It's looks at how Jesus did life, how He looked at make disciples of men for the purpose of Kingdom building.

Selection, Association, Consecration, Impartation, Demonstration, Delegation, Supervision, Reproduction...all are key elements, and I think very valuable, each are areas I want to improve upon in my own life.

The epilogue also gave great insight in wrapping the book, and much of my heart altogether into many ideas that I will have to continue to meditate on and pray to the Lord about, so that in the end, I can model my life more in the light of Christ's, rather than what the world wants of my life.
