See the film AND read the book, they compliment each other in a way that most do not.
Diving into a well of words that I tie to my wrist beneath the moon, seeking the desert rains amongst bottles that have lost their civilization in the sandstorms of the Sudan. An unexpected depth of pleasure wherein I read over a paragraph twice to fully drink in its beauty...and those pages are dog-eared, too, for later imbibing. Dreamy, enigmatic, and bittersweet. KRC

This book reads like poetry, though I found it went on a little too much in some places for my liking.
One of my top 10 desert island books, if not #1. This is such a haunting, beautiful book. I loved putting the pieces together and I loved the non-linear narrative. It made me want to paste things into my own paperback Herodotus. Really amazing.
