This was another good if quick installment- i loved the mechanical do-dads and stuff in the gnome kingdom- especially the irontree of the title. the only problem with these are thier length- they always leave me wanting more, like ive only just read the first few chapters of a good book and then its over. But its for kids so thats what i get :)

Mallory is snatched by some goblins and her brothers go after and try to rescue her. They meet the king who has a dream of conquering the world and re-creating it in metal. Towards the end of the book Mulgarath shows up - he's got his hands on "the Fieldguide" - and destroy the goblins. The ending is a real cliff-hanger.
