Wizardborn continues the story of the struggle of Gaborn, now the Earth King, who has lost his powers but continues to lead his people. He must contend with the threat of the huge, inhuman Reavers, whose myriads Gaborn and his forces must now pursue across the nation. It has become Gaborn's fate to follow, even into the depths.

Raj Ahten, the great warlord endowed with the strength and qualities of thousands of men, once the primary threat to Gaborn, now struggles to retain his own empire. His war of conquest thwarted, his very life is now threatened by the Reaver thousands.

And a young girl, Averan, who has eaten a Reaver and absorbed some of its memories, becomes a keystone in the search for the dark Reaver lair.

I liked this book and how Farland really began developing the characters a lot more. The Borenson/Myrrima sideline is getting a lot better, I really feel bad for Borenson so it is nice to see things getting a little better for him, and the Erin/Celinor part took a crazy interesting turn where Farland really begins expanding the storyline into the hinted at far mystical levels. The wizardborn stuff with Averan and her new skills is really cool . Again, the development of not only the human characters, but also of the reavers gave this third book a very interesting new twist.

The only thing I didn't like as much, and is why I give it a 4.5/5 is because the ending didn't wrap things together as nicely as the other two books, but it does look like it is ready to ramp up right into the last book. Can't wait to read Lair of Bones. (show less)

This is by far my favorite of this series. I have loved them all thus far, but Wizardborn is the best. So much happens to some of the most unlikely characters and the development of them is fantastic.
