I read this book three times: One when I was in primary school, then early secondary school, and the third when I was in the last years of secondary school. It is a compelling read, especially when this is written by a Malay man himself. It delves into the Malay psyche, with the main intention to (personal opinion) help improve their situation. This is a synopsis on the interacial relations in Malaysia. It is well written in an easy to understand style of writing. The writer seem to take the scientific way of analysing his observations on the subject. The only disappointment is that towards the end of the book it delves into international relations with neighbouring Singapore which I feel is better suited in a different book as there is no real connection with the book title and suspects the writer of a political motif. This I believe was written subconsciously or hastily to reflect the topic of the day when the book was actually written for publication. Therefore, the book would have been better with the ommission of the last chapter so as not to discredit the book on its objectivity to bring about socio-understanding. I would recommend reading this book to those who want to understand how Malaysia is what it is today and to all Malaysian who wants to be enlighten of the ruling political party's policy/approach towards social integration.
