From the author of the smash hits Something Borrowed and Something Blue comes a novel that explores the question: is there ever a deal-breaker when it comes to true love?

First comes love. Then comes marriage. Then comes . . . a baby carriage? Isn’t that what all women want?

Not so for Claudia Parr. And just as she gives up on finding a man who feels the same way, she meets warm, wonderful Ben. Things seem too good to be true when they fall in love and agree to buck tradition with a ... (show more)

Things seem too good to be true when they fall in love and agree to buck tradition with a satisfying, child-free marriage. Then the unexpected occurs: one of them has a change of heart. One of them wants children after all.

This is the witty, heartfelt story about what happens to the perfect couple when they suddenly want different things. It’s about feeling that your life is set and then realizing that nothing is as you thought it was---and that there is no possible compromise. It’s about deciding what is most important in life, and taking chances to get it. But most of all, it’s about the things we will do---and won’t do---for love.

I love this book. The journey of it was quite surprising at times. At first I was excited because Claudia seem to have the same issue that I have- being a woman who doesn't want children. Then it took a turn off of that topic and just kept turning. I begged for the ending not to be sad; there were just too many sad parts in the book. I will say that the ending is acceptable and makes this my favorite book of hers. That is saying a lot after the follow up to Something Borrowed and Something Blue. Best part- some characters from another book make a special cameo. Perfect! (show less)

This book is ok. i liked the premise of the plot, but hated the ending. The author flails at the end. She didn't have the courage to take a stand on the fundamental issue of the book; instead she opts to end the book in uncertainty. Clearly she's trying not to piss off feminists and traditional types at the same time. It just turns out weakly. (show less)

This was a nice easy novel with a heartwarming ending. I checked on line for other novels written by this author and came up with "Somthing Borrowed" which I read some time back - if I remember correctly that novel had a similiar feel.

The characters in this novel are really what stood out for me. There will always be the central characters who are usually well developed and then supporting characters who are just foils for the main characters. This novel was not like that - each of Claudia's sisters has a distiinct character and personality as does her mother and father - even her neice. Even though the novel ends with out the central issue being resolved there is a sense of resolution and the reader gets to decide what he thinks happenned next. This makes everyone happy. I would recommend this novel for anyone looking for a not too serious novel with a great ending (show less)

This is the kind of book to read if you're in the mood for something that does not require much out of you or make you think. A fairly quick read and quite enjoyable in parts. I can think of a hundred ways this could be made into a better book - more in-depth, more precise, more emotionally true, but then it wouldn't be what it is. And it's actually just fine the way it is. We need our fluff reads between the more serious stuff. We need sitting on a rainy day with a glass of wine reads. This... (show more)

And it's actually just fine the way it is. We need our fluff reads between the more serious stuff. We need sitting on a rainy day with a glass of wine reads. This is one of those. And in that sense, it fits its role perfectly. There were parts, in my opinion, where the writer goes a little overboard and sounds a little preachy, but all in all an easy, breezy, "don't expect it to shatter your world and rebuild it" kind of book.
