Read this collection of poems as a freshman in college. Absolutely stunning, awe-inspiring imagery that hinges on Old's ability to confront painful ends, wondrous beginnings, and the little bits of life stuff in the middle. If you enjoy honesty and internal confrontation, you will enjoy reading the Gold Cell.

My first connection to Sharon Olds was through this book. I have had copies of this book stolen from my house, I've given it away to friends and fellow poets, and Sharon's signed at least two copies of this for me. I love her poems. No surprise, and am thrilled she's writing more again.
