I was very fascinated by this book. It raises very interesting issues which, when you get to the bottom of them, are still very relevant today. Probably more so today than in 19th century Russia. I have written a review but it's too long for this website. I can see that here people like reviews to be very quick.

Don't be daunted and you'll have fun!!!
Great characters and an intreguing plot. The title character is the true tragic figure. I loved it.
A classic through and through. It takes you back to 1800's Russia with such vibrance of thought and character.
