With simple but delightful storytelling, Kevin Carroll channels his childhood passion for sport and play into a universally appealing blueprint for life. Drawing wisdom from the playgrounds of his youth, where he spent hour upon hour sharpening his body and his mind, Carroll shares with readers his Rules of the Red Rubber Ball how to achieve maximum human potential through the power of passion and creativity. Finding your own red rubber ball and chasing it to your hearts content, he argues, is the surest route to peace, prosperity, and happiness. Over the years as an athletic trainer and public speaker, Carroll has transformed his philosophy into seven simple rules that any successful leader will endorse: 1) Commit to it 2) Seek out encouragers 3) Work out your creative muscle 4) Prepare to shine 5) Speak up 6) Expect the unexpected 7) Maximize the day With an award-winning design and color photos throughout, Rules of the Red Rubber Ball will inspire the child in everyone for generations to come. Quote-leftI'm going to date myself, but it's a short, nicely designed and illustrated version of "What Color is your Parachute." It's a very quick read and would make a good gift. There is a companion book that might be worth investigating.Quote-right

Quote-left"Your red rubber ball is what grabs you by the soul. It's what captures your imagination. It's what you do when no one tells you what to do, when you're alone in your room, on the playground or in your head, It's what you daydream, and that dream can becom your life's work...if you let it. AND YOU HAVE TO LET IT!"Quote-right

Quote-leftNot only did I get to read this wonderful story - I got to hear Kevin speak at our Disney Leadership Conference last year. He is so truthful and engaging. I highly recommend that if you are starting to burn out or feel as though you have lost your passion, please read this book and you will find your baby barbell moment again.Quote-right

Quote-leftFirst off, you can read this book in less than an hour. It is "children's book format", but, regardless, it's really nicely put together, and reinforces important things about your pursuit of work and life.
I generally don't read "self-help" books, but this was fun. And really, it's what you make of it. This really won't change my outlook. As with the other self-help book I read over ten years ago (What Color Is Your Parachute?), it says you should pursue what you like, what inspires you. And that you need to work hard at it, be creative in your pursuit of it. It's gimmicky for sure, but sometimes, that's what it takes to make a person's mind click. I like its general creativity of presentation.
For what it is, it's a very good book!Quote-right

Quote-leftVery Very inspiring. The arrangement and the design and tactile sensation of the book is very "neurologically stimulating" ( if there is such a thing). VEry out of the box.Quote-right

Quote-leftKevin is one of the greatest people I've ever met. This book is great, but you really gotta catch him in person to truly "get it."Quote-right

Turn on all the lights and check under your bed. Things are about to get spooky in Trenton, New Jersey. According to legend, the Jersey Devil prowls the Pine Barrens and soars above the treetops in the dark of night. As eerie as this might seem, there are things in the Barrens that are even more frightening and dangerous. And there are monkeys. Lots of monkeys. more
