Long Way Down

Interesting read of their journey through Europe and Africa - you can just imagine them sitting there chatting about it. Unfortunately, it does seem a little like the "public" face of what happened, since I'm sure these 2 are seasoned in dealing with the entertainment media.
Although not as good as Long Way Round, LWD is still fairly interesting. There's no point where the action really picks up - rather it slowly builds, until it cumulates in South Africa. A good read, but I'd suggest LWR first.
So great! Interesting and amusing! A great follow-up after Long Way Round. The book is entertaining, offering some more tidbits not seen in the television show. Ewan and Charley drive from John O'Groats, Scotland to Cape Town, South Africa on their BMW motorboikes encountering lots of obastacles and having fun along the way.
Fantastic! Not only a great motorcycling book, but a real eye-opener about Africa and the suffering of so many there. I was in tears by the end.
A good continuing chronicle of what Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman began with Long Way Round. I learned a ton about Africa from this book.
This is my second time reading this book and it's still just as great as the first time. Nice and light(most of the time, I was in tears at one point but things quickly picked up again) and very captivating. I watched the show at the same time as reading the book and I thought they both went really well together.
But then again I am a bit biased having a thing for Ewan McGregor...... :O
Now to find me copies of The Long Way Round DVD and book...
Not as good a read as the first book and it follows the show too closely. Like the show, they didn't seem to have as good a time on this trip. There was talk of doing another one, but maybe they should leave it as it is and stay friends.
Very badly written. Awful in fact. But the show was great so watch that instead and save yourself the pain of enduring the last section in particular which was awash with words but no emotions.
I have not yet read Long Way Round, although I did see the videos. This is an entertaining, light read. It is nice to read about people who are able to have adventures that you just dream of. Much as it sounds like they just want to be seen as two blokes on bikes, they have a fairly significant support network traveling with them a lot of the time. They do, truly, have some amazing adventures, and it is nice to read about what they are thinking about certain situations, which is hard to get from the videos. Obviously I will need to see videos of Long Way Down, and read Long Way Round. But these stories do make you realize that celebrities are people too, and have emotions and reactions to adverse situations.
You gotta love Ewan and Charlie's adventures. The book goes into so much more detail than the BBC show has time to cover. Great read!
